After 20 years in the NHL, Guy Carbonneau continues his career in hockey now as head coach for the franchise he was first drafted into in 1980. In his stay with the Montreal Canadiens, Carbonneau was part of two Stanley Cup Championship teams. Next, Carbonneau skated to the St.Louis Blues where he played for one season before moving to the Dallas Stars, where he saw a third Stanley Cup ring. His career then took him in the next most obvious direction -- coaching.
Career Highlights:
  • Drafted 44th overall in the NHL entry draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
  • Was part of the Canadiens 1986 and 1993 Stanley Cup teams.
  • Member of the Dallas Stars 2000 Stanley Cup team.
  • Served as Canadiens assistant coach from 2000-2002
  • Was named General Manager of the Dallas Stars organization in 2002
  • In 2005, was honored by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League when they created the Guy Carbonneau Trophy to be awarded to the leagues best defensive forward.
  • In 2006, Carbonneau was named the Montreal Canadiens associate coach, and was soon after named head coach.
